Embark on a 4-hour adventure that starts in the heart of Florence, in the very street where Carlo Collodi, the author of The Adventures of Pinocchio, was born. The walk traces his life in the city as Anna recounts the fascinating stories that lie behind his masterpiece. Transfer in a luxury hire car to a small neighborhood which is little-known even to Italians and which was crucial to the inspiration of The Adventures of Pinocchio. It is home to some of the most illustrious and impressive mansions in the whole of Tuscany. Here, among many other things, visitors will be taken to the site of the real-life carpenter’s workshop in which Collodi imagined Geppetto carving Pinocchio.
After a traditional Italian stop for gelato and cappuccino, extend the tour for the rest of the day traveling in the luxury hire car to Collodi, the town from which the author took his pseudonym and in which he spent part of his childhood. Once in Collodi, visitors have time off for lunch. There are several options to choose among: from a simple Tuscan panino, to a more traditional trattoria, to an elegant restaurant overlooking the world-famous gardens of Villa Garzoni. After lunch, visit the famous Pinocchio Park, which was created with award-winning artwork depicting the adventures and characters featuring in The Adventures of Pinocchio. After the Park, discover the enchanted garden of the magnificent Villa Garzoni, a UNESCO heritage site, as well as the town of Collodi which is nestled on the hillside behind the Villa, and enter into a timeless setting of stone houses and cobbled streets. At the end of the tour, visitors will be accompanied back to Florence, to Pinocchio shops, and to the Pinocchio Museum, a few hundred yards from where the tour began.
