About the Tour

This is not a tour that simply takes you to the touristic Pinocchio attractions in Florence. While indeed touching also on the main features that Florence offers regarding the puppet (like the Pinocchio Museum, Pinocchio shops, Pinocchio restaurants, and the Pinocchio Park in Collodi), this tour unveils the captivating stories behind the writing of the world’s best-known fairytale, The Adventures of Pinocchio, as well as its true messages, while also telling the extraordinary life of its author, Carlo Collodi, and touching on many fascinating historical, cultural, and artistic points of interest about Florence and Italy. There are places in and around Florence that were crucial to Collodi’s life, but there are also hidden locations that trace the crafting of the novel’s settings and characters. Your guide is the best equipped person to lead you in the discovery of these spots, as she is one of the leading scholars of the tale, having published several articles about The Adventures of Pinocchio (also in The New York Times) and the revolutionary and widely-appraised annotated translation for Penguin Classics (read some articles about it here).

You may choose between a four-hour tour (Classic) and a full-day tour (Extended). The tours are walking tours, though long connections take place in a luxury hire car.
